When we made our coin for the Oklahoma Indian Degree Team, we decided we’d work on a pin utilizing the turquoise and silver combination that has become so popular. So, in keeping with the theme, we fashioned an arrowhead. It measures 1.25″ tall, and approximately 1″ wide. The turquoise is simulated with hard enamel, and a gold-tone inlay. The square and compasses sits flush with the hard enamel. The edges are beveled to give it a more authentic look. Of course, it also includes a deluxe clutch, on the back.
We opted to have the arrowhead face down, for no other reason than it gives the owner the option to wrap a leather lace around the neck, and wear it as a necklace.
The rosette that serves as the pivot for the compasses was inspired by a trip to Oklahoma’s Grand Communication, held in their Scottish Rite Cathedral. There you will find them adorning a good portion of the ceiling, in the main foyer.
If you appreciate the turquoise and silver style, you will HAVE to have this one!
