Simple, elegant, and meaningful – the symbols are all familiar, with an added reminder of your continuing value to the lodge and the Fraternity, in general.
The outer band on both sides are done in hard enamel, making the letters flush and relatively smooth to the touch.
Surrounding the Past Master symbol is soft enamel, which causes the symbol to stand out.
We have used a combination of soft and hard enamels to provide an interesting visual effect on the reverse side of the coin. The lectern, gavel, hat, and links in the jewel are all done in hard enamel (flush with the border), while the background black and the blue on the jewel are soft enamel. It provides a depth of field; a simulated 3D effect.
So, when everyone else is pulling out their coins, you can do the same and proudly indicate your time in the east.
